Marni by Francesco Risso SS21 Brushstroke Painted Stripe Fringed Wrap Midi Skirt

Marni asymmetric wrap skirt from Francesco Risso's Spring/Summer 2021 “MARNIFESTO” collection. Conceived during lockdown, the collection grew out of Risso's experiments constructing garments from blankets, curtains and other existing textiles, with wrapping, fraying and visible construction becoming part of the season's design language. Its asymmetric construction and deliberately frayed finish are characteristic not only of this collection, but of the deconstructed, handmade sensibility that defined much of Risso's tenure at Marni.

A close variation of the skirt, constructed with an off-white rather than black contrasting panel, appeared in MARNIFESTO — Marni's pandemic-era film presentation staged across city streets around the world in place of a conventional runway.

Condition details: Excellent pre-owned condition. The fabric is clean and well preserved with no significant stains, holes or areas of damage noted. Raw, heavily frayed edges and loose fringe throughout are intentional elements of the original design and construction.
