Issey Miyake “Ring Pleats” sculptural dress from Yoshiyuki Miyamae’s Autumn/Winter 2014 “Rhythmatic Forest” collection. Inspired by the growth rings of trees, the new Ring Pleats technique transformed flat, concentric discs of pleated fabric into three-dimensional garments.

The technique opened the Paris runway in a live transformation that drew thunderous applause; Vogue described the presentation as a rare fashion moment, with the audience calling Miyamae back for another bow. This dress was shown on the runway in black.

Highly sculptural and reconfigurable, the dress can be expanded, compressed and shaped into dramatically different forms before collapsing back into a compact spiral. Retains its original circular Issey Miyake presentation box and Japanese retail tag. A particularly strong collector’s piece, combining a runway-documented design with one of Miyamae’s most distinctive technical innovations for Issey Miyake.

Condition details: New with tags, unworn. Retains its original circular presentation box, fully intact with only minor wear consistent with age. Refer to photos for further condition details or contact for additional queries or photo/video requests.

Size Notation: JP 2. The Ring Pleats construction expands and compresses, so the dress accommodates a wide range of sizes.
