Oscar de la Renta

Vintage 1960s Red Metallic Brocade Bubble-Hem Cocktail Dress

Vintage 1960s Red Metallic Brocade Bubble-Hem Cocktail Dress

Oscar de la Renta red metallic brocade cocktail dress with bubble hem, c. 1966–1970. From ODLR’s early independent years following his departure from Elizabeth Arden in 1965, retailed at Saks Fifth Avenue.

  • Scarlet red metallic brocade with all-over scattered Mughal-inspired floral medallion motif woven in gold and silver metallic thread
  • Fitted structured bodice; puffed bubble/tulip skirt
  • Shallow U-scoop neckline; sleeveless
  • Passementerie trim at neckline, armholes, and double waistband: gold twisted cord base with faceted gold-tone beads and clear rhinestones; small gold ball drops at lower edge
  • Center back zipper from neck to hem
  • Full red satin lining

Condition details: In very good, gently used condition consistent with its age and use. Four small gold bead drops are missing from the passementerie trim — not prominently noticeable due to the density of surrounding beads and gold loops. A few loose metallic threads in the brocade — the weave is otherwise intact and the overall fabric is in very good shape. Minor areas of very faint surface fading detectable only on close inspection; does not affect wearability or overall appearance. Refer to photos for further condition details or contact for additional queries or photo/video requests.
